Fresh Soil + Fresh Starts + Rooted with Truth

There’s something deeply grounding about the first turn of the soil in spring.

After months of rest under winter’s cover, the ground begins to stir. With each pass of the plow, cold, compacted soil gives way to rich, freshened earth—ready to support seeds and nourish new life. It’s a familiar rhythm for those of us who work the land, but every year, it feels like something more. Something bigger. It feels like possibility.

Turning the soil isn’t just a farming practice – it’s a symbol. A reminder that change is not only natural, but also necessary. And sometimes, it’s not even optional.

Last season’s challenges and changes were ones that none of us expected—unexpected weather, rising costs, crop failures—but most importantly, losses that reshaped the way we move through our days. Our family and our business did not choose to change; we were forced to. We were forced to accept the fact that trust can be violated, feelings manipulated, and values disrespected.

While we remained passive and private about a situation that unfolded during our 2024 Season, we believe the public deserves to understand the depth of our distraction, devastation, and overwhelming dread. While our customers remained loyal and supportive – something we’ll never take for granted—we were uncovering and digesting the enormity of a multi-year theft situation that left us financially impacted, hurt, and feeling extremely violated.

As we uncovered years of dishonest actions by one of our long-time employees, we spent our days not in the fields creating change, but behind closed doors adapting to change.  We sat watching hundreds of hours of validating video footage and sifting through years of financial records that left us feeling simply disgusted and horrified -to say the least. Instead of creating the kind of positive change that we plan for year after year, we were forced to accept reality, uphold our reputation, move through the criminal justice system, grieve, and believe that accountability would prevail – and it did.  It was one of the darkest and most disorienting times we’ve ever walked through as a business, as a team and as a family – but justice did prevail.

And yet—here we are.

Resilient, professional, and proud that we weathered a storm while fully standing true to our family and business values.

Still turning the soil. Still showing up. Still planting hope. Still believing that one “bad apple” does not define our team or our morals.

Because the truth is, even in hard times, the land teaches us to keep going. The same way last season’s crops left behind nutrients for the next, our past experiences—both the wins and the wounds—enrich the ground we’re about to plant. This is the season to build on that foundation. To adapt, to learn, to grow in ways we never expected.  We are moving on!

Maybe growth this year looks different—less about expansion, more about restoration. Maybe it’s about choosing honesty, healing, and transparency. Maybe it’s about returning to what matters most: the integrity of our work, the resilience of our team, and the unwavering support of a community that has stood by us for 25 years.

Just as the soil is turned to allow air and light to reach what lies beneath, we’re allowing light into the darkest corners of what we’ve endured. And from that, we believe something beautiful and lasting can grow.

So, here’s to fresh soil and fresh starts. To muddy boots and resilient hearts. To the promise buried in every seed, and the quiet strength it takes to keep planting—especially when the last season left scars behind.

The season is changing—and so are we.

Let’s grow. Let’s learn. Let’s change for the better!
